"When
I turned 50 in 2002, I discovered Lampworking through a very synchronistic
search on the Internet.
My life changed completely overnight.
Working with glass is intensely magical!
I am passionately and obsessively consumed by the heat, the colors
of the fluid glass and the immediacy of creating with it.
I love the challenge of crafting both fun and elegant adornments
and utility items to feature the beads I am so proud of. My work is often sculptural, and frequently bold. I strive to be original in my designs. I am influenced by fantasy, universal spirituality, the glass itself, and an eccentric, inquisitive mind. I believe that creating art, wearing unique art pieces and using functional art in the small tasks of daily life feeds the sense of self as a part of the thread of creativity that keeps this planet vital. I live in my head a lot. I watch little TV and I don’t read newspapers. I listen to classical Public Radio. I am a 'Magpie' and a 'maker' and a military spouse. I live in a cottage built in 1943 between Langley A.F.B. and the Chesapeake Bay in Hampton Virginia." |
