"My garage studio “Liquid Sand” is located in Poquoson (great marsh) on the edge of the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia. I started off working in stain glass, moved to glass fusing and then to making glass beads. Making torch glass beads just seams to fit my creativity with its spontaneity and instant gratification. I love experimenting with new ideas and with different techniques. I use many different types of glass for my bead creations because of the different effects each type of glass shows. I even use some of my stain glass cut into strips, which can produce interesting color hues in different beads from the same strip. However, you can’t combine different types of glass in the same bead because of compatibility issues. Each bead is properly annealed in my kiln usually overnight or until the kiln reaches room temperature. The bead is then removed from the mandrel inspected then cleaned. I like doing sets because I also enjoy jewelry design. With some of my specialty beads I will incorporate complementary beads. Check out my most recent discoveries in my bead making. I always like trying new ideas. Enjoy and make something beautiful!"
